Dear Subscriber,

We have posted Construction Procedure Directive 14-8, "Portable Transverse Rumble Strips," on our website:

This directive provides guidance on the installation, use, and removal of portable transverse rumble strips. A new standard special provision will be included in contracts and requires the use of portable transverse rumble strips for projects involving flagging operations on two-lane conventional highways. Rumble strips can be installed and removed quickly and efficiently and will provide motorists with advance sound and vibration warnings that increase alertness to changing conditions within the work zone. The Division of Traffic Operations' memorandum, "Implementation of Portable Transverse Rumble Strips" is attached to the directive.
