Caltrans and the Western Regional Association for Pavement Preservation are partnering to provide training on seal coats. The training will include a review of the specifications and inspection requirements. The training will be based on the new Caltrans 2015 Section 37 Seal Coats Revised Standard Specification but will also be useful for those inspecting projects using the 2010 Caltrans Section 37 Bituminous Seal, Standard Specification.

Two training sessions have been scheduled.
Session 1
When: Friday, May 20, 2016, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Location: Lassen Conference Room, 1031 Butte Street, Redding, CA 96001
Registration Link:<>
Early Bird Registration Date: May 9, 2016

Session 2
When: Wednesday, May 25, 2016, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Location: Caltrans Southern Regional Lab, 13790 Victoria Street, Fontana, CA 92336
Registration Link:<>
Early Bird Registration Date: May 13, 2016

Two additional training will be given later this year in District 4 and District 6.

The training sessions are provided free of cost. Lunch is on your own. You will need to get your supervisor's approval to attend the training and for any related travel expenses.

With several seal coat (chip seal/slurry/micro-surfacing) projects scheduled this upcoming construction season, this training will be beneficial whether taking for the first time or as a refresher training. Caltrans employees will be given preference if registered before the Early Bird Registration Date. After that the training session will be opened to local agency and industry members.

If you have any questions about the training session, contact Sri Holikatti at sri.holikatti at<mailto:sri.holikatti at> or (916) 274-6074.
